Description

You'll be immersed in a community of people learning, practicing, and applying Nonviolent Communication from the moment you sign up.

Each of CNVC's IITs are hosted in different countries and languages in effort to expand their reach for all who wish to experience the depth of NVC and connect with a growing community of passionate learners and practitioners.

Pathways to NVC Certification Training Series

1st Cohort - 18 sessions beginning Friday November 7th.

Online Training

This training is for you, if you are ready to commit to 18 sessions of NVC training that can serve as steps towards learning, integrating, and sharing NVC with others. You are welcome whether you want to become a certified trainer with CNVC or just want to grow more skills in sharing NVC.

Maybe you have just started working towards being registered as a certification candidate.

Maybe you are already a certification candidate, and would enjoy support with your next steps.

The training will focus on integrating skills in the many different applications of NVC, together with building a warm supportive community.

There will be homework between sessions, and you will be invited to participate in an empathy home group and also meet with an empathy buddy. Therefore we are asking for your commitment to come to all sessions, so that you can be part of this community focussed on practice – practice – practice.

Introduction: Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and Money

Money is one of the most emotionally charged topics in relationships and families as well as in business, government, and politics.

We have built a world in which the influence of money is everywhere. Money is tied to self-esteem, a sense of power and choice, punishment, generosity, opportunity, the ability to direct resources toward a purpose, social inequality, and the destruction of the natural world.

It is a very confusing and painful topic for many people!

In this article we’ll look first at NVC: what it is and what it is good for. Then we’ll turn our attention to defining and understanding money. Lastly, we’ll look at the intersection of the two, and focus on how NVC can clarify — and make you more effective and resilient — in your relationship with money...

Nonviolent Communication and Money

In the Nonviolent Communication process, we distribute money based on need. If we had fifty dollars to distribute among five people, we wouldn’t necessarily give each person ten dollars because that wouldn’t meet our need for fairness. Fairness occurs when everyone’s needs are equally valued. So we check in with each person to learn what his financial needs are. We may find that one person doesn’t have enough money to buy milk and dinner for her family that night. Another person is flush with cash. Someone else might be a little tight for money right now, but thinks her situation will turn around in a week.

Once we have connected with each person’s need, we begin to make decisions about the distribution of the fifty dollars. Any scenario is possible; there are no right or wrong answers. The person who has plenty of money might opt to forgo receiving a portion to meet her need to contribute to the other group members. The person who is tight for cash might request twenty-five dollars tonight, and she will pay back twenty dollars next week when her financial situation turns around. The person who needs money for milk and dinner might request thirty dollars for her immediate use to meet her need to contribute to her family’s well-being. The other two people will make their requests based on their needs. The group will continue to discuss them until they reach consensus on a final decision.

If we engage in this activity fully valuing everyone’s needs and with faith in the process, everyone will end satisfied with the outcome. This is a different form of fairness than most people are used to. It is focused on individual needs, not splitting things evenly. It recognizes that people have different needs in the moment, that everyone truly wants to give and receive compassionately, and that there is no reason to hoard resources.
