The Compassion Course Online with Thom Bond

June 23rd, 2021 through June 22nd, 2022

"For anyone who wants to have more compassion, understanding and harmony in their lives and in our world”

As we humans have developed other technologies, the technology of compassion has been developed too. This course provides the “how to” of creating more connection, understanding, and compassion in our daily lives – a way to create a world we will be happy to leave our children’s children. The work is challenging, at times confronting, and with perseverance, practice, focus, and dedication, it works.

What You’ll Learn:
  • Experience more harmony and understanding with important people in your life
  • Have less painful, shorter conflicts
  • Have more awareness of your needs, wants and desires
  • Have your needs expressed and understood
  • Increase congruence between your values and actions
  • Translate judgments into dialogues & requests
  • Increase harmony and understanding among others
  • Stay more centered, open and effective in conflicts

Restoring a Masterpiece, or Master Peace by Tim Buckley

Rain fell and froze the landscape to a depth of nearly an inch. Normally I can hear rain spattering against the window at night or trickling in the downspout.

But this storm hushed everything. Then I heard the first “cc-rrr-aa-cc-kk” and “whump” as a tree limb snapped, burdened by a coat it wasn’t designed to wear. The sky would flash as another utility line severed and sprayed electrons everywhere.

By morning light, only destruction. Roadways, landscapes strewn with broken wood. Houses hammered. Cars crushed. Overhead lines snaked across the roads, as if to emphasize how powerless we were...

Remorse and Restorative Justice by Susan Allan

In recent months, watching the news has offered a reminder of the extraordinary value of Nonviolent Communication® for many of us. As I absorb the verbiage that I hear and read, translating it as quickly as possible into Feelings and Needs language, I find great solace in memories of Marshall Rosenberg leading an IIT.

I was so fortunate that the first person who spoke during the first session was a woman who described dire circumstances that most of us would consider to be a call for social justice. This is seared into my memory because I wanted to fix her problem and as I was so new to NVC I hadn’t yet realized that Marshall had discovered an entirely new way to think and communicate with people in grave distress. This is what I understood as Marshall gave her Empathy...

Being Resourceful with my Intense Emotions by Jori Manske

Here is a process that has been very helpful for me when feelings of intensity would arise:

  1. Stop. Break any reactive pattern in the moment by creating space and be with myself with kindness.
  2. Breath into the experience: Follow the breath in and out a few times to become present to my sensory experience of what is happening right now.
  3. Affirm my integrity to respond with wholeness in a way that could be in harmony with everyone's well-being, especially my own....

Collaborating in the Workplace

We recently sat down with Ike to learn more about the new course and what the PuddleDancer community, in particular, can learn from it. We got answers to questions like: "Why will this course be of special interest for people already familiar with NVC?" and "Why do you think it is important to share NVC skills with the business community?" What impact does music have on society?
Music has the power to culturally, morally, and emotionally influence our society. Thus, the more intentional we become with the sounds, messages, and moods we create and release through our music, the more powerful we will become in making deep positive impacts.
